Culinography: Frogs’ Legs Provençale Paysanne

by Erin Gleeson

Frogs' Legs Provencale Paysanne

I have been making photographic “diagrams” of old recipes from the 1950′s that aren’t so common anymore. Above is my visual version of the recipe for Frogs’ Legs Provençale Paysanne from The Gourmet Cookbook, 1950 edition, a book meant for the amateur at-home cook. Below is the photo the cookbook shows to illustrate

Culinography: Kebab Night

by Erin Gleeson

Our neighbors recently invited us over for kebab night. In California in February, it’s easy to grill outside and I’m convinced everything tastes better when cooked outdoors! Forest Feast: The Skylonda Cocktail

by Erin Gleeson

title_skylonda

This is my new favorite winter cocktail to drink in our neck of the woods, so I named it after our neighborhood, Skylonda. I just soak some cinnamon sticks in a jar of bourbon for a few days which gives it a nice spice. Then to the bourbon, I add a

Culinography: Happy Chanukkah!

by Erin Gleeson

Channukah

Chanukkah, the eight-day Jewish holiday and festival of lights, started last night!  We light a new candle on the menorah every evening after sundown. I will be making the traditional latkes (potato pancakes), like I do every year, and I plan to attempt making sufganiyot (jelly donuts!) from scratch. I’ll let you know how
