Great UM Noodletown: Naengmyeon @ Sura (OAK)

I love the pucker-your mouth tartness of naengmyeon–cold buckwheat noodles with cucumbers, hard-boiled egg and pickled Asian pears, doused in a chilled vinegar broth. Like craving ice cream when it’s snowing out, I do love this during the cold winter months.

Thanks to Chungtech for introducing me to Sura. They have noodle specials every day! But it will be hard not to order their naengmyeon. It was perfect with splashes of more vinegar, and a huge dollop of bright yellow mustard. Just perfect.

Here’s a gorgeous ode to naengmyeon, by Sonja. It’s one of my all-time Umamimart faves.

My favorite summer dish! Have you ever had “chik” nangmyun? It’s even yummier!

@esther- i’ve never had “chik” nangmyun. will try soon!

@maggie- bibin nangmyun tends to me a bit too saucy for me. but i do love the spice.
