Fridgin’ Out: HOLLYWOOD HOMO FRIDGE

by SAMER

Hi and welcome to Samer & David’s fridge. Even though we cook a lot (well, I cook a lot – he just eats), I realized my fridge is a bit of a snooze-fest but here goes.

Below we have the Lower Level/Orchestra section. That poor apple has been there for months I think. Starting on our left is nice bunch of curly kale I got from the Hollywood Farmers Market. I try to force raw kale salad on David from time to time – you know, to get the bowels lubricated – he resists it quite a bit.

To the right of that is my new favorite fiber packed bread courtesy of Trader Joe’s. Some eggs, shiitake, Red Bull (when one needs motivating for the gym) and in that Tupperware right there is David’s lunch that he carelessly forgot to take to work. I usually have tons of fresh herbs but not today.

Alright moving on up to the Mezzanine sections of the fridge we see the staples: rice and almond milk ready for impromptu cereal, oatmeal, or protein shake. We stay away from soy milk basically because my trainer tells me to and I listen to him blindly. Something about too much estrogen.

Other staples include the Greek yogurt and goats milk yogurt. These we usually mix in the morning with berries. Right next to them are the blueberries – not usually a big fan of TJ produce but two pounds of blueberries for $5.99 does the trick plus we go through them in two days. Those two Tupperware house leftovers from dinner. Whole wheat penne with homemade turkey meatballs and homemade pasta sauce. These will serve as lunch tomorrow.

Back there are some Cokes for my friend Adir who always needs Coke – at all times.
Oh, We have some chicken defrosting – we shall see what comes of that.

So here is our fridge door. It’s riddled with various sauces, extracts, oils and bits.

Some highlights/favorites include:
TAPATIO!!!!!!!!!!! – the best sh*t ever. When in doubt, TAPATIO!

Peanut butter is always in our fridge. Again, this is something my trainer got me into. It’s a good way to get full if you are starving (which I always am) and need something to get rid of the hunger. I also put it in my oatmeal in the morning. I love TJ peanut butter – they have it down right. Not pictured here but usually always in our fridge is the flax seed pb that TJ makes. So good.

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR – random, I know – but I love this stuff. I’m totally a believer that this sh*t is the almighty healer. Being a total hypochondriac I guzzle ACV because it’s supposed to kill all the bad bacteria and it has worked for me in the past so I keep on at it. I got this bottle at the farmer’s market – all natural raw organic free-range cage-free antibiotic-less ACV – ha ha.

Last but not least – the freezer. There you see frozen turkey, chicken, fish, beef – PROTEIN!!! And of course my gallons and gallons of my own homemade chicken stock that I swear by.

Samer is based in LA and is currently plowing through the
Animal cookbook, 2 Dudes, 1 Pan.
