Recently my friend and I went to the Water Grill, I read in a few reviews that this place was the shiznit!
It is a very nice place, but fairly pricey. But the raw bar makes up for it. We sat at the bar area because the whole place was reserved, or we looked too scrubby to be able to sit in the nice booths.
Here is a raw bar menu, you cant really see it but, great choices with a fair price.
Can’t start the party without a nice cold pint or few of Sierra Nevada on tap!
We started off with some very bomb looking bread; it was made in house of course. On top left we have the pumpernickel rosemary bread, to the right was a french roll, and on bottom was their demi baguette. All so good with the butter they had.
Right before the raw fest began, our waiter brought out the sauces for our oysters. On the left was their homemade horseradish sauce that had a nice kick to it (not to much though), in the middle was a Mignonette (which is a shallot, champagne vinegar, ginger and cilantro reduction) it was my favorite sauce to eat the oysters with, and last on the right was a sweet in house cocktail sauce.
For our first dish, we go the Blue Point oysters (Long Island NY), and the Little Neck Clams. Ohh my god, sooooo gooood. The blue points were very sweet, and great texture. The little necks were just perfect to the mouth feel, very sweet as well. To die for!
Next we have the Malpaques, and the Blue Hawaiian King Prawns. The malpaques were awesome but we got 2 that tasted like fart (gave me a bad after taste). The Blue Prawns were really good but all prawn almost taste the same. What did it was the Mignonette sauce, it killed it, everything you ate with that is amazing.
Their raw bar was pretty dope, they had 2 people banging out all the orders. They are very quick. Looks fun don’t it (its really a pain in the ass)!
For third course went for the Coromandels (North Island, New Zealand). Soo bomb. These were slightly different in some way, very flavorful. Love it!
I had to do one last round, oyster were killing me softly, just couldn’t stop ooooing and awwwing, while drooling out the side of my mouth. So had to get a 1/4 dozen of the Sting Ray oysters (Virginia somewhere). Good, but not as good as the others I had. A least it didn’t taste like fart. Haha
Seriously, if you guys get a chance, try some of this Mignonette, make it at home or as the waiter next time your out on a fancy seafood dinner. Sooo bomb!
For the end of the night got a nice bill for 140.33$, damn I’m broke!
I really dug their dope ass kitchen, they probably produce killer meals out of there. Their regular menu was too pricey for me though. Raw Bar all the way!
